hello

I have a problem with my sound-chip. When i first booted the system, the chip worked perfectly (On the first Configuration Screen when i was aksked if i hear the testsound. I heard it). But after that it dont works in Fedora. In normal Redhat 9.0 it worked with no problems.

The System says i have a "Integrated Systems [SiS] Sound Controller" from Silicon. In Redhat 9.0 it was the same, but Windows says i have a Cmedia AC`97.

this seems to be the nrom now with FC3, try to run either the gnome mixer (right click on the volume control applet and select "open volume control" then make sure nothing is muted)

or you could run alsa-mixer if you have it installed

or if you are using kde i beleive its kmix?

i have also found if you re-run the soundcard config tool when you are logged into X as a user and put in the root password it will detect the card again and be un-muted

give those a shot! and good luck :)

I'm having a similar problem with the same chipset. It worked great for a while, and then overnight it stopped. I haven't changed my configuration much. I checked all the mixers and everything is turned on, except PCM is all the way down and I can't change it back up. Any suggestions?

I forgot to mention that I'm running Fedora Core 2.
