HI,
i set my proxy in my browser and Applications->Preferences->network proxy. I couldnt get yum or up2date to work as i kept getting <connection refused> errors. I then stumbled upon a thread instructing someone to try this:
export http_proxy=http://proxy|port
this made yum work straight away! However, all my GUI stuff like up2date and yum extender still give me the connection refused error. like they haven't seen the proxy change. Ive now exported http_proxy in the following files and still they dont see it.
/etc/profile
/home/me/.bashrc
/home/me/.bash_profile
Does anyone know whats going on here?
