Hi all,

Finally got round to doing a fresh install of FC3, (all others were upgrades), anyone noticed that they have Red Hat Enterprise CD mentioned in the "Additional CD's" section?

Also, the default desktop background sucks.

I'll update this thread when I find more things to moan about ;-)

Gavin.

Really, it installed for you?

Not real happy with my FC2 to FC3 upgrade. I know, I know, I should have done a clean install, but it does work at least--just have to reconfigure almost every service and there are .rpmnew and .rpmsave files scattered everywhere now. What I wonder is how much new stuff didn't install and how much old stuff doesn't work anymore...

Dog-One: Find your upgrade.log and look for the files not upgraded:

apt-get install `grep '\.rpm$' upgrade.log | sed 's/\-[0-9].*//' | fmt -1000`

I think it is better to do a fresh install judging from the problems the "upgrade foks" encountered. I have really had no problems at all, other than the usual nvidia and soundcard issues that are easily resolved. I alwyas burn a new set of discs and do a fresh install....works for me :)

BTW...I am considering a new video card and I am leaning towards a nVidia card, does anyone have any advice as to the best card to get for linux use?

I think enough people reported having problems after doing an upgrade. I always prefer a fresh installation. Do a back up.
