Hi, I'm experiencing another strange problem with FC2...
I have a dual-boot pc (FC2/WinXP). When I reboot my pc from XP to FC2/KDE, the mouse pointer "goes wild":
When I move the mouse, the pointer wildly jumps all across the screen and a lot of mouse click events are triggered (although I'm not touching the mouse buttons!).
In this situation I have to reboot the pc once again to get the mouse working as it should.
This problem occurs *every time* I reboot my pc from WinXP to FC2. So I always have to reboot my pc two times when switching from WinXP to FC2.
Isn't this *very* strange?! When I reboot from WinXP to FC2 the mouse goes wild, but when I reboot from FC2 to FC2 the mouse works flawlessly.
Is anybody out there experiencing this problem, too? Is there any way to fix it?

Mambo,
If I had to guess; I bet you have a "Wheel" mouse of some sort. I had the same problem using a "KVM" switch. I have two machines one with "WINXP" the other with"FC2" . When switching from XP to FC2 the mouse pointer was very very erratic. If I switched back to "XP" the mouse worked fine.
If you do a search on the fedora forum with "mouse and kvm" there is a thread that addresses this problem. I went through all of the hints and changes suggested none of them worked for me.
I had to dig through my "Old Parts Box" , found a "P/S 2" mouse, no wheel, only two buttons. I removed the wheel mouse from the kvm and installed the old p/s 2 mouse all works fine now.
I did not have this problem using "FC1".
Seems to be a "FC2" problem.
If I say the "Linux Box is Broken", it keeps the wife off of it....:)

ive been having similar problems with my wheel usb mouse. everything runs great on fc2 until i switch to xp to play a game or something. i dunno if its some hardware issue with the usb or something w/ software.

I'm also having a very strange problem with the built-in mouse pointer in my laptop (IBM X31). When I first got the laptop it had WinXP and the pointer worked fine. Then I partitioned it and installed Fedora Core 1 on the new partition. Now my pointer goes wild when I am logged in to Fedora, and is completely non-functional when I boot in XP. A USB mouse works fine.
I brought the laptop to our university tech support. They looked at it for an hour and couldn't figure out what the problem is. They took out the hard drive and put it in a different laptop, and it had the exact same problem, so we know its the software on the harddrive, not the laptop hardware thats having the problem.
It is very curious that installing Fedora would cause the pointer to break on WinXP as well.
How could Fedora installation have affected XP?! There is got to be some kind of interaction between the two operating systems, also symptomatic of the problem you describe.
Something with the boot loader perhaps?
