I just had a quick question about how to check what files are installed where where do they installed in my system after I installed a rpm package?

Which packages are installed:

rpm -qa |less

Is the package gaim installed

rpm -qa | grep gaim

Where is gaimed installed

whereis gaim

or

locate gaim

or try
rpm -qil gaim
for instance to see where gaim installed itself ;)

If you want to check before installing the package, add the -p flag.
Example:

This will print a list of all files in the package:

rpm -qlp redhat-artwork-0.99-1.i386.rpm

You can do this to urls as well.

The key here is the --list, or -l option. Adding that to any query lists the files.
