Trying Fedora for the 1st time....so far so good.

I had been using Mandrake for a couple of years. I started with 8.1 and kept upgrading until I was using 9.2. Instead of moving to 10.1, (I got tired of waiting for the non-club member's release) I downloaded Core 3.

I am used to using KDE, but I want to give Gnome an honest try. So far, my only issues are the apparent lack of a Super User mode file manager, and I have not figured out how to get my Palm Pilot sync'd-up, but with the help I see available here, these will probably be surmounted in time.

BTW, that junk filter in Evolution is sweet!

You should run nautilus with root access in terminal.

Thanks for the link! I like the way Gnome uses the udev capability for recognizing my SD media, etc. That was always some effort to get working in Mandrake, and I notice that KDE/FC3 does not seem to work as well as the Gnome desktop....I will try to stick w/ Gnome for the time being and follow the directions to set up a nautilus super user.

I am new to fedora or the whole Linux OS and i have lots of proble
for example i tried to install winamp for Fedora core 2 i used rpm -Uvh winamp.rpm it got installed correctly but i don't know where it has been installed
the other problem that i have was trying to install kde theme manager which i couldn't install it i am keep getting error
does anyone know where can i fine the installed winamp file or how can i use those kde theme?

If you want to see what file are installed from an rpm you can do one of two things.

1/ Do a check on the RPM file itself, rpm -qlp winamp.rpm

2/ Do a check on an installed RPM, rpm -ql winamp
