My first post on this forum! I have been a part of such a forum for ubuntu (which I shifted from) and find these forums to be indespensible:thumb:

I shifted from Ubuntu as I was facing a problem with my wireless card, Realtek 8188CE b/g/n, since I bought my laptop (a year ago), causing intermittent speed drops and other pains in the butt.

So far I have faced no problems as such on f16, apart from rare disruptions. Although, I was wondering if I could compile my own drivers. Has anyone ever done this before for realtek soundcards? I have never compiled my own drivers before, and I don't have much to begin with....

lspci shows that f16 is already using the concerned drivers => 8192Ce for my chipset...So will it make a difference if i compile the same drivers on my own?

No difference ... unless you really know what you're doing ;-)

On the other hand some people choose to compile the whole operating system.

soundcard or WiFi? In F17 and F16 just wait for the 3.4 kernel
