So here I am again, with another thread about gnome shell. I believe that is all I posted about so far in these forums.
Basically I'd just like to ask other people who are running gnome shell on graphics cards that do not have hardware acceleration what type of performance they are experiencing in fedora 17 running gnome-shell?
My Experience
I'm not expecting gnome shell to run any better than where it's currently at. Moving windows around is a little bit laggy, typing is very laggy, it takes whatever key I type about 2 seconds to appear on screen. Mouse scrolling and navigating though folders also takes some time to perform whatever action I've made.
With the lag I mention, I don't believe it's necessarily that. Everything seems to load quickly, just as quick as it does in fallback mode. It just seems more like it's an issue with the fps or something of that sort. It seems like things load as fast as they should, but it takes the -blank- a second to display it? I'm sorry I can't convey this "off lag" to you guys. I just thought I'd mention it in case anybody else somehow knew what I was talking about..because I sure as hell don't :C
My Hardware
intel i865g grahpics card
pentium 4 HT 3.2ghz
2gb ram
I know my computer is old and light years away from being on par with todays standard mid-performance desktops, but you can remind me again if you want
Just to cover it again, I'm wanting people who aren't normally capable of running gnome shell who are now thanks to this beffy miracle to post their experience along with their computer hardware so I can compare and share.
Thanks
