Has anyone but me noticed the flippin' amazing shutdown times for F17 Beta?!

It's almost instant. My uneducated guess goes to that prelink or similar apps.

It hasn't gone unnoticed here. My laptop is off in something like 5 seconds. Amazing! The desktop is quick to turn off too.

It's just as fast as suspending for me.

I've been wondering about it ever since I installed F17 on a USB hard drive. My first thought was "that's scarey fast!" I've had shutdowns in under two seconds at times. Nothing seems broken yet, so perhaps we should give Lennart some credit for systemd? It may not boot a lot faster, but does it ever know how to shutdown! :)

That doesn't seem enough time to even flush buffers to disk, and with the noted bug that dismounts don't really dismount... would lead me to think that any filesystem journals are getting some serious action during boot.

Was thinking the same thing.

Mine freezes occasionally while shutting down. Have to manually power it off.

Sometimes its crazy fast.
