I'm coding in emacs. The problem is I have to memorize all the methods and variables (whose names are quite long).

Is there auto-complete feature in Emacs ? It would be very useful.

Try M-/ and C-M-/. These complete based on the contents of your buffers. The latter will prompt you if there are multiple possibilities.

Yeah, you're right... real hackers use sed. ;)
