Okay.....so I installed Fedora 16 XFCE spin today. I was able to get things up and running, got the touchpad working, etc., but I cannot get the system to see my home network. I have my main desktop with many of my files and I just cannot see it. I have another distribution on this laptop and it works fine.

I go into Thunar file manager, click the network icon, and nothing shows up. I installed Samba, but that hasn't seemed to reallly do anything at all. Normally in linux I can go to the location area at the top of the file manager and type in smb://ipaddress of share and voila, instant connection. In this case, however, as soon as I begin typing in smb:// it turns into a red box with an x through it and won't even try to connect.

I can ping the windows system, added the workgroup name in the client configuration utility, etc., but cannot seem to get this thing to see anything. Other than this one problem, I really like what I have seen thus far, but this is really turning into a show stopper for me. I can access the web, was able to apply updates, and download other software. But the system refuses to see the computer that is 3 feet away.

Any suggestions are most welcome.
