Hi fellows,

I have a STRANGE PROBLEM...... i have installed Fedora Core 3 Final (after i solve successfully my probs in my desktop, with the help of fedora forum :) ) in my laptop, it's an HP with intel sound card (the module its snd-intel80) and in the first clean install the sound fuction perfectly, i have made some tests and after that i decided to make a new clean install............and when i finish this 2nd install i GET NO SOUND, HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE, THE MODULE IS LOADED but when testing the souncard (with fedora utility)...........NO SOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have tried to make adjustments in the volume control (PCM / MASTER / CD) but nothing.

Any ideas, another adventure.......i still can't understand why in the 1st install i get sound and in the second nothing....

Thanks one more time for all the help

Sniff.

i had no problem with sound after the install on my hp laptop. my problem is if i unmute and increase the volume in gnome (or alsa), when i reboot, everything is muted and turned down all the way. no matter if i save my settings when i log off.

edit: found my answer - http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27108
edit2: the above thread didnt solve my problem - but i found that modprobe.conf wasnt running the 'alsactl restore' at startup. so i just added the line/usr/sbin/alsactl restore to my /etc/rc.d/rc.local - once i saved my alsamixer settings with /usr/sbin/alsactl store my sound is unmuted at boot!

There is a post in the zd7000 forum about placeing snd-intel8x0m into the /etc/hotplug/blacklist and rebooting. Took care of the problem for me...

The URL is: http://www.zd7000forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=3646&sid=8ad124de9faad3ff4d282493f4708626

For some reason, this editor is causing a line feed after the question mark, the stuff starting with "t=" should follow the question mark.

Follow-up: I can't figure out how to get the URL to show up correctly. It is here when I edit, but not when viewing the reply. So, go to the zd7000 forum and click on the Linux link. The title you want is: "zd7000 sound issue in FC3... solution".
