I started with FC2..err wait just Linux in general for the first time since the same day I successfully loaded FC2 in my box and was able to register to this forum I went through the phase of getting used not only to a totally new OS but to the trials and tribulations. There were times during the first month that I just like any other newbie I would just reimage the whole box again just because I couldn't pin point the issue and then laughed when I read I wasn't the only one. I had all the bugs every Fedora user has, multiple sound issues, mplayer, or xine not playing all formats, sound_slot errors, kernel errors, gnome taking a big caca on you, you get the point. I forgot how many times I uninstalled and reinstalled until I realized , or learned from this forum how to fix the issue or just use commons sense based on my readings... Kudos to fedorafaq and this forum.

Anyway after 2 books, and 3 -4 months later I feel very confident and I am still learning a whole bunch every day. Anyways I decided to upgrade to FC3 and everything went so smooth, that I still can't beleive it....for the past hour since I got home from the club and bit tipsy i've been browsing through the revised/updated/restructured directories just to become familiar. Linux is just like hitting the crack pipe for the first time <sorry for the odd humor>

Anyway everything works just as good if not better than FC2 and now my logs are boring because there is no errors to read....

I am glad everything works fine for you. My only complaint with FC 3 was the poor multimedia support in a third release. i am happy with it since i have been fixing my system that way I like and so far so good. I got music, video playback, java, almost as good as fc2 now. :D

ALMOST everything works on my new FC3 install. Got yum set up with it's new repo files so it can get what it needs and what I want. Mplayer plug-in works but not with the movie trailors on Apple's website. I get video only and NO sound. Not a major problem...but still, it worked on FC2...why not FC3? Other video files play fine WITH sound. All other audio and multimedia stuff seems to be working fine. So far...I have been pleased with FC3, BUT I'm still tweaking on it daily. I still have my FC2 to use...haven't done away with it yet.

It seems you are missing some audio codecs, mplayerplug is working fine for me on Apple's trailers.

I agree with imdeemvp! the multimedia support is nothing compared to my XP box. (sorry to say) They only reason I still have XP installed is I need it's advance multimedia support and video tools. (especially for my MiniDV digital camcorder so I can create my personal DVD home movies) Other than that it's rock solid. :)

I would say one thing about FC3 that I am very happy with is the new YUM: it is much faster and now there are GUI's for it. Man in FC2 i had to restart yum quite a bit.
