Hi,
my problems concern my new fresh install of Fedore Core 3. My previous experience in the linux world concerns a redhat 8.0 where I had no problem setting up the network. This is not the case today. My config is that the linux box is connected to internet on eth1 via an ADSL modem. I have an XP machine connected to the linux box on eth0. So the linux box is the gateway to the net.
The linux box is connected at startup to internet and I have no problem with that. I can browse the net.
Between the 2 machines, ping works. The linux box is 192.168.0.1 and XP is 192.168.0.2.
XP can't access the linux box (ftp, telnet, web) and can't access the internet although it is configured the same way it was when it was connected to the redhat 8.0 box (the gateway is correctly declared in XP and the DNS also).
1. What do I have to check and how ?
2. I remember that under redhat 8.0 I had to specify the windows workgroup somewhere. I can't remember where and it was not requested during installation. Where can I enter this info ?
3. Although ADSL works, I was used to the commands adsl-stop and adsl-start. On fedora it seems they have no effect. How do I manually stop and restart the connection ?
4. Is it normal that in the config panel, eth0 and adsl are active but eth1 is declared as inactive ?
5. Is it normal that in the config panel, for eth0 and eth1 no routes are visible ? Should the install not take care of that ? If this is a problem, how to configure routes ?
Thanks a lot for your help
Nicolas
