i had a previous issue that wasn't allowing me to boot fedora. now that i'm able to boot, i get the initial wallpaper to load, but the login screen fails to appear. the mouse looks like a loading indicator and it just stays that way for hours. i've let the computer sit for about 4 hours to confirm that it just won't load. the only repo i have is rawhide and everything is up-to-date, yum update upgrade distro-sync is as well, it won't let me update anything more.
what steps can I take to fix this issue?

I've attached ~/.xsession-errors file to see if it'll help.

Is you displya manager GDM. Try insatll system-switch-displaymanager and set the login screen to kdm. This has worked for me before. I use KDM now rather than get frustrated with GDM (You would have to insall KDM from the FC 16 rescue system and then you would need to do a selinux relabel. otherwise

Can you log into terminal?
You might need to press ctrl+alt+F2 when it hangs at gui login.
EDIT:
IF i understand your error log, you have plenty of errors.
Hence my suggestion would be, do a backup and reinstall.
