Heyas

I dont have the money to buy cd's, yes they're cheap, but to me not cheap enough :(
So i have downloaded the the 64bit ubuntu cd iso, tried to bring it on USB with DD, which succeeded, but wasnt bootable.
So i've installed unetbootin, and finaly i could boot into ubuntu.

However, during installation i end up in a screen looking alike the boot/shutdown screen with missing plymouth, where the 3 lowest lines say something like:
firmware upgrade rtlxxxxxx..
pid: something
rxa: something
That screen jumps in at about, guessing since no numbers shown, 75% of installation, and remains the same for over 30minutes, when i tend to shut down the laptop.

The screen remains, neither ctrl+alt+f1-f5, alt+tab nor ctrl+esc seem to work.
However, it recognizes the power off, and i get the 'shutdown screen' from ubuntu.

Any ideas how to avoid the screen?
Need more info, i'll provide as soon i know what you need ;)

EDIT:
Booted from unetbootins menu:
* default
* try without installing
* install
------
result stays the same

EDIT2:
It seems, just after the language packs, it gets either a panic (1) or hangs up at the below image (7 times).

I don't want to blow you off, but you're more likely to get a useful response at the Ubuntu forum: http://ubuntuforums.org/ as they're very friendly and quick to get back to you.

Hi DM,
I've tried with other distros, and fedora liveusb-creater didnt want, as it could not check the key.
So I've tried it with my script, with wich i have great success with fedora.iso's, but didnt want to boot ubuntu either.
Finaly figured unetbootin is in the repos, of which i have heard it works best accross distros, which i can approve, as the prolem is later than i was before ;)

@ sidebrnz : i'll try lubntu now, if same error i'll check the site.

EDIT:
With lubuntu its somewhat later, trying 32 bit now, its just for gaming anyway.
