I just installed FC3 with the developer package checked.
I would appreciate any info that you can provide me with on starting to program with python.

www.python.org is your best source of info. They have tutorials and documentation there.

Here is a python tutorial (http://docs.python.org/tut/tut.html) and the python library reference (http://www.python.org/doc/current/lib/lib.html), both of which are available from the site listed above. Have fun with python. It's a nice language, and very useful on the unix/linux platform.

The www.python.org tutorials are excellent - I was making some serious Python programs within a week!
I highly recommend www.wxpython.org too

I like to create a link for the python HTML docs in Firefox.
Make sure you have the python-docs package installed:
yum install python-docs
Then type in /usr/share/doc into Firefox and browse to the index.html file for the python-docs. Drag the icon for this file in the URL entry box to your bookmarks toolbar.
I also highly recommend IPython for interactive sessions:
