Ipcop just got updated to version 2.0 yesterday. This clears up a lot of problems (1.4.21 was old enough that newer hardware was having trouble):
ipcop 2.0.0 takes the kernel from a old 2.4 kernel to 2.6.32-4 kernel

I have it running at home on my mini-itx pc (1GB ram with a VIA C7 cpu, 32GB SSD ) (I had 1.9.20 beta installed and by doing the update it became 2.0.0 official, it seems to be doing fine here.
