hi,

I installed fedora 15, but my usb wireless card TP-LINK TL-WN722N does not work. when plugged there no led activity or anything. poor little thing is death LOL

I know is not the hardware because same laptop with ubuntu 10.10 works. as far as I know the linux kernel should support the device

[vendetta@vendetta proc]$ uname -a
Linux vendetta 2.6.40-4.fc15.i686 #1 SMP Fri Jul 29 18:54:39 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

the device is "seen"

[vendetta@vendetta proc]$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 0cf3:9271 Atheros Communications, Inc. AR9271 802.11n
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0a5c:2145 Broadcom Corp. Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate II

but from iwconfig i got:

[vendetta@vendetta proc]$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

so i am lost here on what debug procedure to follow, any advice or ideas?

thx in advance

I tried delete the thread but I could not find how... anyway, I found solution.

reinstall fedora 15. now is working :)

so fresh installation works fine, I noted the kernel version is

[vendetta@vendetta ~]$ uname -a
Linux vendetta 2.6.38.6-26.rc1.fc15.i686 #1 SMP Mon May 9 20:43:14 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

but after make updated, kernel updated again to 2.6.40-4.fc15.i686 it does not work.

so questions I have are two

1) do you agree problem is the kernel or you would look into another direction?

2) if I wanted to help the comunity and highlight this possible bug, what should I do?

thx in advance

Same problem here. Apparently there is an easy way to fix the issue at the following link

www.tumblr.com/tagged/ath9k

I had no luck at the 'make' step.

Let me know if you could fix it by this steps, maybe my compiling skills are very bad.

I am still unable to use my USB network WN722N (ath9k_htc) with the newest kernel (2.6.40)

Did someone get a workaround for this?

I do agree it is a kernel problem. How come it was usable before?

Got it fixed, just need to update the firmware.
You can see the details at the following webpage:
