View Full Version : FC3 does not power down my system...

Hey folks,

Apologies for cross-posting, but I thought this issue would get more attention here. When I go to shut down from gnome, I see the list of everything being killed (all OK) and then it reaches 'acpi_power_off called' (which I saw in FC2 for a millisecond and then the PC would power down) and just hangs there. The hard disk powers down though. This is new since FC3 (the system shuts down properly in Windows and various other Linux distros I've tried over the years including Knoppix and Mandrake). This is a clean install of FC3 on a freshly formatted disk, no upgrade or anything like that going on. I am currently baffled... My system specs:

ECS K7S5A mobo (SiS735 chipset)
300W PSU
512MB DDR RAM
AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (Palomino)
nVidia GeForce 4 MX440 64MB VGA
On board SiS 7012 (Realtek ALC100/P based) audio
Seagate Baracuda 80GB UDMA100 HDD
LiteOn DVD-ROM drive

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly apreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Neil.

Then you shouldn't have cross-posted, right? Thread closed.

I have the exactly same HW (ECS K7S5A) and FC3 installed but have not seen this problem.
If the problem is still "on" I could look what is in my BIOS (versions and settings) to get rid of that possibility.
My FC3 is a standard installation (upgrade from RedHat 9) without any tweaks.
