Hi all,

OK well does any1 know whats going on with the new drivers for ati, i read at http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33790590&highlight=ati+xorg+6.8
they dont work with xorg 6.8 and if they do its with dri disabled, which means going back to xfree ?
Could some1 make some suggestions, i know its early and i know that FC3 supports 3d acc on my laptop sys with ati (which im grateful for) but........

I'm in the same boat. I've got FC3 on my IBM T42 and would really like to use 3D acceleration with my Radeon 9600. Has anyone been able to get ATI's drivers working with xorg 6.8 on FC3? I've tried several things, but no luck...

Well I have invested some time in setting up FC3 since install and had other issues with FC2. I have many uses for my computer so I don't think I'm going to rollback my operating system just so I can do (some) gaming. I'll have to wait for ATI to join the present.

Everything else about FC3 seems great. Nice and stable, no other problems running/installing/configuring any apps yet. This may be the release that (almost) completely frees me from windows. Even when things all work well, setting up a linux desktop for serious use takes a fair investment of time. I'm not interested in doing it all over again for one application. I feel like I've spent most of my life waiting for the next upgrade because of some broken feature in the current release. If FC3 isn't broke I won't fix (upgrade to FC4, &c.) it. A good poll for /. or something would be how many times have you installed an operating system. Or better, how many times have you installed an operating system on the same computer?
