I am using the latest version of fedora 15, with gnome shell and nvidia drivers from rpm fusion. When i enable empathy the system get's slow and gnome shell is laggy. When i quit empathy everything is ok again.
Just thought that it is good to share ....

Empathy i have noticed on startup is rather slow, im using the opensource nvidia drivers. i have seen other threads saying using the blob driver does make Gnome3 slow all together

The Activities overlay animation is very slow and choppy with the binary drivers. Other animations like scrolling down the applications list of CTRL+ALT+UP or DOWN for changing workspaces is fine.

Actually it is not empathy, whenever i use an application that has a bottom right icon in tray (I also tried dropbox for example) the animations are slow, quitting and everything is back to normal.
