After doing the following yum transactions:
sudo yum --disablerepo=remi downgrade firefox
sudo yum erase xulrunner2
sudo yum erase gnome-panel-libs
sudo yum erase compiz-fusion-extras-gnome
I got this:
sudo yum update --disablerepo=remi --releasever=15
...
LONG package list...
...
Transaction Summary
================================================== ==============================================
Install 95 Package(s)
Upgrade 1539 Package(s)
Total download size: 1.0 G
Is this ok [y/N]:
Since the first four commands cleaned up all the broken dependencies, I'm really tempted to find out what all the fuss about gnome 3 is all about. Think I should? ;)

Try the livecd instead, it's easier to bin ;)

@Leigh:
Since AWN and compiz found a new home, I'm going to give it a try. SL7 may well use G3, so I think I'll try and make G3 look like my current G2. It's compiz fusion and AWN anyway. :C

There has been some changes in the compiz chain ownership (I now own a significant part of the compiz chain).

as for AWN

Oops, my mistake. It's AWN and AWN-applets that have a new home.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but I had to disable the presto plugin for this update. It had tons of errors with the delta files, and those that did download failed on the rebuild. So I killed that update and restarted it with --disableplugin=presto. Just over 200 of 1635 packages downloaded so far. I just hope F15 updates as well as F14 and F13 did.

Wow, that went better than I expected. Well, mostly better. There must be some incompatible configuration files in my home directory, because my normal login is pretty unusable atm. Logging in as makerpm works fine since it was never a gui user. AWN works, too! I'll post screen shots tomorrow.

Hopefully Leigh will see this and provide some feedback. Updating from F14 to F15 pretty much gave me my old desktop environment. That is, when I boot into Gnome, I get compiz-fusion and AWN with no gnome shell. That's because I ran F14 with compiz-fusion and AWM with no gnome panels. Two things are borked at the moment though. The cpu frequency applet icon shows full speed even though I can watch the frequency change in the bubble that appears when the mouse cursor hovers over the icon. That will get a bug report shortly and the new maintainer can look at it.
The other problem is a lot bigger. With Intel 945GM Express graphicsr, I have always had to run with the "Loose Binding" option checked. That option used to show up when right clicking the Compiz Fusion Icon, but it's no longer there. Only "Indirect Rendering" shows up now. I don't see anything in the change log on koji about it. OK, I also see that Adam did the last build.
If Adam or Leigh knows what happened to that option, please let me know. I can file a bug report if you like. Without "Loose Binding", the screen doesn't update correctly when windows are moved around.
Thanks,
