i have the following built-in sound-card on the motion le1600 tablet pc:

00:1e.2 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 04)

i mean i have the card, but no sound ;)

i installed standard on f15 (alpha) and added the alsa-plugin as 2nd try for this. i heard about, this being already an older issue and does not concern only my tablet.

is anybody aware of a solution? is this really a known issue?

no idea? i googled a lot, found that i should remove pulseaudio, but this cannot be the solution?

Are you runniing gnome or kde? run lspci then run lsmod |grep snd_hda. And do alsamixer -c0 is master switched on.

are you running gnome or kde? try lsmod |grep snd or aplay -l. Is sudo alsamixer -c0 working and if so fiddle with M in different channels. Also in your System Setting Multimedia is there any audio devices listed?

Everything seems ok to me and the hardware picked up. Internal audio is ok I believe, did you try testing it when you were in system settings. I'm afraid I can not help you any further, I asked you to do those commands so to give the experts more info. I think it is mixer settings so sudo alsamixer -c0 and play around with settings is PCM and Master unmuted. When done don't forget to sudo alsactl store to save file. Rebooting is sometimes good idea because it may come up.

i unmuted EVERYTHING i found, strangewise some points were unmuted, but they stayed at 0 with loudness in alsamixer (such as e.g. sigmatel, exchange center/lfe)

still having trouble with this with latest kernels?

some ALSA 'channels' are really just switches, they can only be 'on' or 'off', but alsamixer (since it's quite dumb) still represents them with a volume control. Muting / unmuting them turns them 'on' and 'off'. E.g. 'exchange center/lfe' does what it says on the tin: swaps the center and LFE (subwoofer) channels in an analog 5.1 output config. (This is necessary for some speaker sets).

Thanks, this thread helped me. I had to unmute my speakers in alsamixer as well to get sound.

I still have no sound :) but perhaps it is because of my settings and i am conterary of a pro in sounds...(meaning of i have no idea of it, but i like it :doh: )

Perhaps, i should look for changes here: in audio-settings i have the following:

- Hardware: Internal Audio// 1 out/1in // Analog Stereo Duplex
- Output: Internal Audio Analog Stereo / Stereo // Analog Output / No Amplifier

in Alsamixer, i unmuted everything i found muted, but the sigmatel audio stays on 00, and i am not able to change the volume there :( - alle the rest (master, master mono, pcm, etc.) were changeable and now on full volume. so the loudness-test just should explode my ears...
