Ok, so here's the story:
I got F15 burned on a USB:D

And here's the problem:
I can't see Gnome 3:mad: I looked at the 'About' for the one of the panels and it said "Gnome 2.26".

In short, :confused::confused:

What does /usr/bin/gnome-shell --version say?

Have you hardware accelerated graphics?

Haven't the slightest idea to either of those but I will check, first boot: top panel froze and I had to force reboot. Last boot: Gnome didn't even load:mad: Oddly enough though, the theme is sick. It reminds me of Win95:( And there's no compiz either. How do you check for hardware acceleration?

are you sure what you have is actually Fedora 15? What exactly did you download, and from where?

I've just checked on a F15 Alpha live CD which I d/l'd some days ago, and Gnome shows as 2.91.6, which I believe is pretty well standard practice with testing/development versions?

Yes, it's legit. I got from the Fedora website.

Hmm, maybe I didn't read it properly. I sure it's still Gnome2, there's no indication of any difference except for a Win95-style theme:Y

Is it possible that you are using the fallback in F15 instead of gnome shell?

DBelton

he probably is getting the fallback version of Gnome from his description of it.

And even though it's called gnome 3, the actual version number is 2 something. The gnome shell probably has a higher version number than the fallback version, too.

I had problems getting the gnome 3 shell when I would boot form a livecd, myself. On 5 different machines, all different hardware from an intel 965 graphics on up to an nvidia gtx 210... Core 2 duo 2.8ghz up to an i7 3.0 ghz. 2gb ram up to 12 gb ram. none of them would load the gnome-shell from the livecd. But as soon as I did a full install, then the gnome shell came up. (the machine I did the full install on was actually one with a lower end video card in it (nvidia geforce 7300gt))

You're right ah7013 and DBelton, I must have been using the fallback. I re-burnt the image today and booted up to Gnome3! Thanks everyone for your help, I appreciate it:D BTW does anyone know where the system settings are?
