Hi, I have not seen updates for quite a while, even after doing a yum clean all, but just the following after trying to update LibreOffice:

root@Thinkpad ~]# yum update

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
[root@Thinkpad ~]#

Anibody else seing this?

I had the same errors last night. What I did was add libreoffice* to the exclude line in /etc/yum.conf. If there is no exclude line then create one.
exclude=libreoffice*
Then is used yum to remove libreoffice-pdfimport because there were still dependency errors after making the change to yum.conf
yum remove libreoffice-pdfimport
Now yum update worked without error. Of course, if you need / use LibreOffice this is not a solution for you. I don't use LibreOffice.

Thanks, glennzo. LibreOffice is indeed essential to me, but your assistance is appreciated anyway :). I just got, however, and installed (crossing fingers) a huge bunch of new updates along with the libreoffices conflicting rpms, so I used Yumex to sort them out. Among the new updates there is a new kernel and glibc packages. I will keep like that for the time being .

Thanks Glennzo. After excluding libreoffice yum did in fact work. I lost libredraw but still have calc, writer, and impress up and working. Will unexclude in the future.

along this same line, has anyone else had a problem with yum if you use the --skip-broken option?

When I got the libreoffice dependency problems, I tried to use the --skip-broken to get around it,, but yum just kept looping.

Yes. In my case, per my post #2, using --skip-broken I got dep errors re: libreoffice, even after adding the exclude line to yum.conf. Once I removed libreoffice-pdfimport I just went with yum update, no --skip-broken.

Same with me ..... tried the suggestions yum offered, neither worked. At first could still do an update via the update manager but this morning that wouldn't work either. Got it fixed, or patched, by way of Glennzo's advice above.

Funny, --skip-broken worked for me.

I think it is because if you have libreoffice-pdfimport installed, then the gimp, evince and poopler update also gives dependancy errors as well :(

Funny, --skip-broken worked for me.

when I used --skip-broken, I jut got hung in a loop checking dependencies. :( even let it go for nearly 10 minutes one time.. just a big loop :(

Let me correct one thing. In my case there was no hang, just another dep error that left me at the command prompt.

Does anybody know what's causing this? When I try to install libreoffice-core, it says it requires LO-ure and LO-opensymbol-fonts in certain versions, both of which are available (in updates-testing, not fedora), and already installed on my system, so what dependencies are missing?

Is this a bug in yum? What's weird is that some of the packages in the error output seem to have "1:" prefixed, but some don't. Maybe they are different packages to yum.

DBelton

right now, there are some dependency problems concerning libreoffice in the updates-testing repo.

and yes, if it has a 1 prefixed, then it is a different package to yum than the same package without the 1 prefixed.

yeah i get that same problem also however i dont care for LibreOffice so i will wait till its either fixed or i shall remove LibrOffice from the system

Yes, they seem to be different packages, that's why they don't satisfy the dependencies.

I managed to get LO installed with "yum install ... --disablerepo=updates-testing". :-) OTOH, if your objective is to get rid of the yum error messages, maybe just uninstall LO for a while.
