Hi there,

Got one final problem that needs solving. Before I updated Fedora 15 Alpha I was using Florence, the virtual keyboard on my Viewpad 10. Even though the icon is still there when I click on it nothing seems to happen. Florence required the use of Visual Assistance turned on when it was first launched since a message popped up if it wasn't, I don't suppose it's managed to turn itself back off after updating has it?

BUMP!

Trying to launch it from terminal gives me an error saying that I need to start at_spi_registry, does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

Output of?
#yum list at-spi*

When I install florence and try to start it, I am asked in a dialog box whether I want to start accessibility (which basically is at_spi_registry).
In terminal, I get this output:
** (florence:8871): WARNING **: AT_SPI_REGISTRY was not started at session startup.

** (florence:8871): WARNING **: Could not locate registry

Is this, what you are referring to?

Yeah! Something very similar at least! Do you know how I can start it? :S

Maybe you should file a bug.

I'm not using any accessibility (a11y) tools. So I completely removed all packages at-spi* and caribou, mousetweaks, florence, gok etc. I even removed the a11y-Icon from the gnome-shell panel in the upper right corner.

So maybe I'm a bad case to compare with: To understand your problem I just installed florence with all its deps and it didn't work, because at-spi-registryd was not running.

To start this service you usually have to have a11y enabled in gconf-editor (/desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility). Then /usr/libexec/at-spi-registryd is executed at gdm-login.
But there seems to be a problem with this /usr/libexec/at-spi-registryd: It closes the moment it is started without throwing any error-messages...

Found this in /var/log/messages:
Mar 24 12:27:15 fedora kernel: [ 401.263489] at-spi-registry[2605]: segfault at 18 ip 0000003e36c259b1 sp 00007fff8a006eb0 error 4 in libgconf-2.so.4.1.5[3e36c00000+3b000]

Ah... I seem to be getting this error too on other applications not just florence:

GLib-GIO:ERROR:gdbusconnection.c:2279:initable_init: assertion failed: (connection->initialization_error == NULL)
Aborted

Don't suppose anyone knows what is going on here?

Edit: Nevermind just needed to run su -. The problem still persists trying to get at_spi_registry started.

So, if you want this problem solved. Go to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/, register (if you haven't already) and file a bug just like you opened a thread here. It's really no big thing.

Okay I'll give it a go. :) Thanks for your help!

EDIT: DONE!
