At first, I have to say, that sound works perfectly on my Fedora 15 Alpha x86_64 with Gnome 2.91 (tested with movie/audio files in totem, vlc, quodlibet, audacity and with skype).
But unfortunately, I'm suffering from really bad sound distortion with the flash plugin (32bit with nspluginwrapper or 64bit from adobe square does NOT matter - tried both).
Both HTML5 Beta and Flash on YouTube work flawlessly in both firefox and google-chrome-stable. But I'm having problems when watching e.g. this:

In both Firefox and Chrome I have really bad sound and in Firefox 4 beta distorted pictures in addition. Can anybody confirm this behaviour? Is there anybody who can view the Mathematica video without these problems?

The problem is in the flash plugin. Please mark this thread solved - unless it's not.

The sound is slightly distorted for me as well, but it is definitively because of the speaker on the movie having a little too much gain in his mic preamp since it only occurs when his voice hits a certain level.
Don't know how to help you out if you have more distortion over all but here http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Flash you might find something useful. There is also a link to a bug with some workarounds.
If the sound is not only distorted in flash player, but also louder than other sound sources, you might want to install and open pavucontrol and lower the volume from there in the playback tab, while flash player is running.

Thanks for your answers. The linusmemcpy-Patch solved the sound issue. And yes, the remark about the mic preamp is definitely correct, as well :)
Maybe somebody could still have a look at the attached screenshot?
This is what I'm getting with Firefox 4. In google-chrome-stable, everything is fine now. Somebody else experiencing the same white rectangles with Firefox 4? Also a known bug?

I don't use Firefox 4, but maybe this is what you're looking for?

Unfortunately, disabling hardware acceleration does not fix this issue. Somebody else using Firefox 4 here?
I tried to have a look at the flash player settings. But when I'm displaying flash content, right clicking on it opens a context menu that opens only as long as I'm holding the right mouse button. Furthermore the "Preferences" are grayed out and thus can't be selected. In Google Chrome, right clicking on flash content doesn't have any effect at all...

Now that the final Firefox 4 version has been released via yum, I'm still getting the graphic errors with Flash content. It is definitely not a Flash, but a Firefox-problem since it works fine with google-chrome.
One-colored rectangles appear in Flash content on e.g. these websites:
- http://www.myspace.com/trentemoeller (and every other myspace-media-player)
- http://maxxim.de , http://www.klarmobil.de , http://www.callmobile.de , http://www.fiotel.de/
Does nobody else have these issues? They really turn me off, since I don't want to use google-chrome, but Firefox 4!
