Hello,
I downloaded the netinstall of the rc2 release.
After that I tried to make the install.
But when the dvd starts up a kernel chrash appear.
I have a AMD64 K8 processsor with a nvidia card.
In Virtualbox I make a disk of 8G.
Who can help me solve this puzzle ?

Kind of hard when you don't show any recorded error messages.

Oke,
The last 5 lines on the terminal are :
do-one-initcall+0x8c/0x140
populate_rootfs+0x0/0x215
kernel-init+0x1e8/0x274
kernel-init+0x0/0x274
kernel_thread_helper+0x6/0x10
It's on a virtualbox with 512 MB.
And it's happening when something is unpacked to rootfs.

I'm not sure, but that would seem to be a memory issue...
Perhaps someone with more experience in VM failures would look at this.

oke
Hopefully we know this for sure very soon.
But thanks for the help.

FWIW, I'm getting the same thing using the full install or the net install.
OK. I've been playing around with settings in VirtualBox itself and have increased memory from 512 to 768. The installation now boots past the error we're getting and is waiting for me to select a language. Looks like it will work this time. On the host system there is 2GB memory. This may not work on systems with less memory.

Confirming that increasing memory from 512 to 768 solves crash
wonder why 512Mb is not enough to unpack the initramfs ?
