Hi there
I have a problem with the installation of FC2. I really want to get this distro working, as it seems to be the best one out there, so please help me out if you can.
Ok, I boot op the computer and boot from the first CD and I get to the first screen where i can chose text install or graphical. (Among other things)
- I choose graphic install.
- The screen turns blue with a welcome text in the top.
-Here is where the first strange thing starts.
A line with strange looking characters starts apearing after each other on the screen.
-The mediacheck app comes up and I scan all the CD:s and they pass.
-After that there is even more lines of strange characters.
-After a while the graphic interface boots up without problems.
-After this, the installation goes perfect, with different types of choices of system config.
It runns smooth until everything is installed and the "preforming afterinstall configuration" apears.
- The progressbar goes to about 50% and then halts. The system does not stop, It just slows down to a near halt.
The small "sand clock" turns, but reaallllyy slow.
Thats where it ends.
It stands there in slowmotion forever (I left it for 4 hours last night) with the progressbar standing still.
I have tried with both FC2 and the latest beta of FC3.
I have also tried the text based install with the same result.
The memtest turns out ok aswell.
Here is my computer spec:
Intel P4 2,8 800FSB HT
MSI 875P NEO motherboard
768 MB DDR RAM
Nvidia Geforce4 TI 4200 64MB
Maxtor Serial ATA disk 80gb (Windows)
Maxtor ATA disk 120gb (Windows)
WesternDigital ATA disk 40gb (Linux install)
I am stuck in this, and I really want to get this working, so please help if you can.
