Enough talk about religion, a friend of mine has brilliant idea: What about a mutual fund of US stocks whose portfolio mirrors the investments of US Senators and Congressmen (or women). Has that been done? I think enough information to do this is publicly available in their disclosure statements.

Most of them don't have enough sense to run the country - what makes you think they would have a clue as to how to invest their money? :D

Seeing some of the way they handle money, I would also run from this option. They would make sure it loses money, that way they can get a bigger budget next year. I do not think this is a good idea.

In the US, the Center for Responsive Politics runs a web site (http://www.opensecrets.org/) about political money, especially campaign contributions. So a portfolio of companies who have a vested interest in a certain politican would be interesting.
