I am sorry, but I don't understand what you are asking. Do you want to set up a new user, rerun firstboot, or do you want to just reconfigure some settings? If the question is about rerunning firstboot, you can check out the link below. Otherwise, please make your question more clear.

I think you're going to have to re-install. If it didn't run firstboot, then something is wrong. Prior to re-installing you should check the ckecksums to insure that you got a good burn on your disc. If you installed from the DVD, it'll have an option to check media. If you used a liveCD, the sha1sum ought to be on the download page.

I remember having a similar problem a couple years ago and when I "turned on" first boot to run after an otherwise successful install, it ran on reboot and I was able to set up my user account etc. The first time it rebooted during installation it went straight to login screen, first boot did not run until I "re-ran" it. I thank you for the link to re-run first boot, however I cannot even seem to get to root. So, perhaps I shall have to re-burn/download the dvd or wait for the next release.
How does one these days pause the boot and change/edit the boot loader?
Thanks again.

Start hitting escape once it gets past the BIOS and hopefully, if you're quick enough, you'll see the grub menu.
Or F8, or any key actually, I think, though I've only used escape, and F8, when in a bad mood, with the attitude of, sheesh, they wanna act like WIndows, I'll treat 'em like Windows. :)
No reason to reinstall. Boot into text mode and run adduser.

"No reason to reinstall. Boot into text mode and run adduser"
Thanks, that is what I want to try.
I may have been waiting too long before attacking the escape button.

Probably--you have to time it well. Despite my somewhat tongue-in-cheek comparison of it to Windows, this is, in my rather arrogant opinion, one of the poorer decisions of the developers. Back when it began, there were several excellent posts about its stupidity (of the 0 time out) and not one answer saying why saving 3 seconds is a good thing, despite all the inconvenience it causes. At the time, bugs still received votes and there were over a hundred if I recall (though you could give a bug more than one vote, so that doesn't mean over a hundred people voted), but the complaints were ignored.
What I always do, when installing Fedora, before the reboot, is go to a terminal, go into /mnt/sysimage, and edit grub to give me a few seconds.
(Sorry for the rant, but it's one of my pet peeves in the What Fedora Does Badly department)
If you keep missing it, just boot with any live CD, and edit /etc/grub.conf to give it a three second time out (and, if desired, change hidden by commenting it out.)
Note that if you know what groups you want to add the user to, you can use something
adduser -G video,audio,wheel <username>
(That will mean supplementary groups in addition to the default group, which will be the same as the username.). No space between comma and group.

Thanks, I shall try it. I understand and tend to join in both "rant areas".
I appreciate your help and enjoy the comments.
I was beginning to think perhaps the wireless keyboard did not connect quick enough or something.

Ah, that's quite possible. The timing can get tricky, especially if, for whatever reason, it goes on a server with RAID, SCSI and all those good things. :)

Thanks to all who answered this post.
smr54, I got my IT guy who has been a great help in teaching and rescuing me  to help with the suggestions you gave me.
We went in and edited the grub.conf file ( I have 2 hard drives on each of my machines) so as to get the 3 seconds, then had to switch to a corded keyboard -
- the wireless did not still give enough time to hit esc. He then showed me how to add a user after we got it booted into text mode.
In text it booted up to what looked like firstboot in text, but we were able to alt F3 to another window and finished.
All is running well, I do not have the login screen come up with my login, but I know there is a way to fix that.
F15 is great.
Thanks again.

That's good--get him pizza. IT guys tend to be friendly to folks using Linux--at least the IT guys who are Linux admins.
