Should I upgrade from fc2 to fc3?

If yes, then why? What is the easiest way to upgrade?

to be honest i will wait a few weeks after the release just to see what problems others will encounter but trust me i will upgrade from 2 to 3 but at this point my fc2 is running like a champ

to upgrade just follow the instructions that fc3 will provide you and just like fc2 was better then fc1 so will be fc3

Now isnt it true that upgrading virtually never works well? Arent there always a lot of problems to fix? Would it not be better to not waste your time upgrading but rather just do a fresh install.

What you say is true, Tru. It is best to do a clean install after you have backed up your data, but you are still encouraged to move to fc3. Take imdeemvp's advice and wait a couple weeks.

Remember, this is not a long life disrto. You are supposed to move to the latest release when possible.

I would wait, unless you really want to be on the front edge of bug fixes. It is much easier to wait a couple weeks, just to make sure nothing major is wrong.

The easiest way to upgrade is to boot the installer but do an upgrade install. It recgonizes your install and just upgrades all the packages.

it depends - if your system is stock Fedora upgrade should be smooth. just take a look at install log (it warns you if some config files were altered, check them)...

now if your system is not stock Fedora with like half of packages self backed, weird configuration hacks and so on (like my system). upgrade will be will be painfull...

it is just like developers of Fedora have their own sight of how you should work with your system. if you work like they tought - upgrade should be easy. if you don't fall under this scenario it will be pain. it is nature of free software - you can do anything you want with the software so it is hard to predict what you will do (and for upgrade methods some things have to be assumed by developers).

so in short: if you installed fedora and configured it thru gui tools, dont loaded system with custom packages - upgrade will work.

(by stock system I mean system with only fedora packages (those which come on CDs/FTP sites etc.))

All of the above advice is true.... the more bells and whistles you have installed, the more complex the upgrade will be, and the more likely a clean install will be better, especially if the bells and whistles are 3rd party.
For me, I didn't see any significant improvement from FC2 to FC3, so I will most likely wait. Perhaps, I might even skip FC3 as I skipped FC1. To me FC1 was not an improvement over RH9, so I opted out. FC2 came along, and I think it is amazing! Everything works, and works well and quickly. I even have Win4Lin installed, and everything works great, even the Windows and Windows applications I have to have.
My advice would be to protect all your important stuff, and take FC3 for a test drive. If you like it, use it. If you don't, go back to your FC2.
