it may well not be compatible with the X server in F15.

if one uses rawhide, is it a case of getting familiar with nouveau?

i seem to remember this being the case when the whole rawhide thing was started. that it didn't necessarily mean that nvidia would provide drivers.

if the above is true, how is it that debian unstable has the latest nvidia drivers? is it a case of not having users in the rawhide space willing to work on them?

if the above also stands true, what would it take for someone with no programming knowledge to take up the task of providing them? That's me if it's not clear.

edit - it is why i effectively abandoned fedora fwiw. i think at the time i was having issues with nouveau before moving to rawhide.

Rawhide doesn't use 1.9

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=213931

rawhide is using a git/development version that will become Xorg 1.10

The exprimental driver needs little bit more hardware power and not really usable for gaming. But for testing the Gnome-Shell it's doing the job pretty well.

So, if you don't have the official nvidia driver, use it. I did for 3 month or so in fedora 14 and no real problem (except gaming) with it.

do you have to uninstall mesa-dri or you let it with mesa-dri-expeimental ?

debian unstable is usually considerably less 'new' than Rawhide. The difference here is X server 1.9 vs. 1.10.
