I have NVidia GeForce GT 430 video card and its not going above 640x480. With Vesa driver I can get 1024x768. I am using ViewSonic VX2035WM monitor. I know the monitor can do resolution upto 1680x1050. Is GT 430 supported? I have basix xorg.conf generated by nvidia-xconfig. thanks for the help!

Can we assume you are using the Nvidia proprietary drivers? I have an Nvidia Geforce GT 330 that works good with the Nvidia proprietary drivers. I have not tried the Nvidia drivers from rpmfusion repo but I hear they work good too. If you do have the drivers from Nvidia you should be able to configure through the menu, I believe it's in Sytem > Preferences > Nvidia X Settings.

yes, I am using Nvidia proprietary drivers. sorry I wasnt specific in the original post. I tried both approaches using rpmfusion repo and installing from NVidia site, same results. I tried to change the setting using NVidia X Settings, the max resolution I see there is 640x480. xrandr also show max resolution 640x480. If I use VESA driver, I can go upto 1024x768. I am using ViewSonic VX2035WM flatpanel. Can you share your xorg.conf?

Okay, see the attached xorg.conf. Also, did you blacklist the nouveau driver?

hi,
still no luck. Some more details of my configuration. I am running Fedora 14 x86_64. following nvidia rpms from rpmfusion installed:
akmod-nvidia-260.19.29-1.fc14.x86_64
kmod-nvidia-2.6.35.10-72.fc14.x86_64-260.19.29-1.fc14.3.x86_64
nvidia-settings-1.0-9.fc14.x86_64
nvidia-xconfig-1.0-6.fc14.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-260.19.29-2.fc14.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs-260.19.29-2.fc14.x86_64

this is my xorg.conf (similar to yours).
When I use nvidia driver, max resolution I get is 640x480. However if I change the driver to "vesa" in device section I get 1280x1024. Also I am seeing EDID errors with nvidia driver in device section.

Sorry I can't help you there because I don't use the same drivers, I use the Nvidia proprietary drivers downloaded from Nvidia support. What you have are not the proprietary drivers, they came from rpmfusion.
