Good afternoon. I recently came across some downtime and would like to start research on this probably often talked about subject, Active Directory and Linux. I have seen a few man pages, etc. on Samba 3 and AD, but need some clarification. First of all, we have a standard that is required, which is NTLMv2 Level 4 and 168 bit encryption. Last I was told, this isn't yet possible in a Linux environment. I know that SOMEONE out there is working on this issue, and would like to know where I could get some ideas from.

The environment is set up as 2 Active Directory Domain Controllers running Windows 2K3 Server. The user acceptance list has started migration to AD, from Win2K DC's. We have approx. 3-4K users, but we have minimal Linux/Unix architecture. (Maybe 3-5 End User systems.) These systems aren't even on the network at this time, which is why I'd like to get my feet wet. Any ideas/directions are greatly appreciated!

For starters, with Fedora clients try System Settings > Authentication.

Recent samba is working on that standard. I believe it is in the samba with Fedora, according to the latest change log (http://us1.samba.org/samba/history/samba-3.0.7.html).
