I need some serious help here. I recently followed my recommended updates, and in doing so, completely borked the graphics on my box.
Here's what I've got.
If I use nouveau, even with runlevel 3, as soon as plymouth starts up, I get the Fedora logo loading, then bam, monitor goes to sleep.
If I use nvidia, I can't get any resolution over 640x480.
I'm running 2.6.35.9-64.fc14.x86_64 with 9000 series nvidia (I believe it's a 9800, having trouble tracking it down), and I don't have an xorg file, I'm letting the system handle it.
It looks like both are having trouble with the fact that they can't read my EDID info from my monitor for some reason, but even if I create an xorg file, I'm stuck in those two cases.
First, which is the more compatible option? I'm not interested in uber 3D here, I just want 1280x1024 (native res on the monitor), and second, what the heck can I do to get back? I don't even know what version of the kernel was the last combo that worked?
