Personaly, I dont like having to set a Pattern for each of windows in Nautilus in Gnome 2.6.

Here is how you set the Default Pattern to an image/pattern. (Note this is user specific)

run gconf-editor

Double Click on Apps -> Nautilus -> preferences

Double click on "background_filename" and set you image. If you want to use the standard patterns like me, they can be found under /usr/share/nautilus/patterns/. I use the image Snow_ridge.png, because its clean.

So I enter /usr/share/nautilus/patterns/snow_ridge.png and hit ok.

Then put a tick in "backgound_set"

And exit the program.. Double click on you Home, and you should see the change has taken effect straight away. (Dont right click on the background, and select "Use default background" after that, seems to clear the tick out of "Background_set", wonder why?)

Dont know if anyone has posted this, but I like to share. :)
