View Full Version : [SOLVED] Lost audio devices - KDE

After the last upgrade I lost all my audio devices in KDE. I am able to get sound out of Alsa so the drivers are loaded for the card. However when I go into the settings panel and look at the audio settings I have no devices listed. Neither the Xine or the gstreamer back end can find my devises. When I log in it gives me the "Do you want us to forget these devises message".

I think we did the switch from HAL to udev a while ago so that probably isn't it. Does any one know if there are new requirements or what may be getting changed?

Thanks

I think dracut was getting in the way of pulseaudio earlier. Pulseaudio and dracut now work for me (but now kdm doesn't and I have to use gdm --gotta love Rawhide). Silly question, but do you still have pulseaudio installed, and have you updated everything including the kernel recently?

Another update and I have my devices back again. Thanks for responding. All I have installed from pulse is the libs and that is because I have to install all of KDE to get rid of them. Pulse is a train wreck.

KDM is working for me. But at least once over the last few months I had to remove it and reinstall it to get it working. The powers seem to be schizo about what terminal they want the GUI to come up on and that is almost always the issue when I have problems with KDM
