I am new to Linux.
I installed FC2 months ago by default installation.
I receieved an email that apache-2.0.51 need to upgrade to 2.0.51 and mod_ssl_2.8.20.
How can I upgrade those two package without affecting the original configuration?
I have downloaded the tar.gz packages.
Thanks a lot!

ok, there are rpm packages of Apache 2.0.52 avalaible, but there are marked as testing :
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/test/2.92/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/httpd-2.0.52-2.i386.rpm
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/test/2.92/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/httpd-devel-2.0.52-2.i386.rpm
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/test/2.92/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/httpd-manual-2.0.52-2.i386.rpm
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/test/2.92/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/httpd-suexec-2.0.52-2.i386.rpm
There might break your system and might contain bugs!
You can update them, by downloading them and executing
rpm -Uhv httpd*.rpm

Thanks for your info, ijla.
Do you mean that the rpm is not stable version?
BTW, just wondering that how come "yum update" will not update the apache to 2.0.52? I thought yum should take care the update by fedora? or it is waiting for the stable version?

As you can see in the url it is testing. I took the RPMs for the recent FC2t3. So yes the RPM are not stable. And yum will update it, when the packages are moved to the stable directory, because the testing and stable packages are in different locations.

Am I right to say that I can wait for the stable version to be released and run yum to update is more safer if I am not sure how to upgrade from tar.gz source?
sorry to ask again, will yum also take care of the mod_ssl package?

Yes it is much more safer. I am not sure, why you want to update. Are there new functions in 52 and/or security bugs in 51 that forces you to update?
If not, than it is better to wait. If yes, than you might risk to install the testing RPM, I don't think that there will break your system, but they might.
And yum will take care of mod_ssl package, if it is also updated.
here is the testing one : http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/test/2.92/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/mod_ssl-2.0.52-2.i386.rpm
and this forum is meant to be for howtos and not for questions ;)

I think you missunderstood me. Not the fedoraforum is for howtos, but only this special part, where you posted it http://fedoraforum.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=12 . You should have better posted it to software, there are questions welcome.
