Samba

I would like to ask a question..For some reason i never can get samba to work right. Then all the sudden i get it working without knowing what i did so then the next time i have no clue until i all the sudden get it. I was wondering if someone knew of a GREAT step by step tut on how to get this working with windows xp pro and Fedora Core 2 or 1 "currently using 2 now" i would greatly appreciate it and thanks in advance this is what i have...

edit your file
"writable = yes" are the correct entrie.
"public" and "only guest" is the same.
