The config of my new system:
AMD64 on MSI Motherboard with onboard VIA graphics card
120GB SATA - works fine
Samsung SyncMaster 793S

The problem is, the 64-bit FC2 is not recongizing my monitor. I though it was because SyncMaster 793S is not in the monitor list of FC2. But then, I tried installing with a ViewSonic E70 Monitor. Again, it says "Unprobed Monitor". I edited the xorg.conf file manually after install, but no results. It is detecting the video driver as VESA generic.

32-bit FC2 is working fine with minor annoyances. Is there any way to solve my problem and get the 64-bit version running?

We have an identical issue, using DFI motherboard with Via graphics, and the 64-bit fc2 will not recognize a standard plug and play monitor. We on the other hand are currently running with a half-bank of 1GB memory, and some people have theorized that that is the cause of the issue.

Couple things: Do you use two banks of memory? We notice that our problem comes about BEFORE linux enters runlevel 5, which is graphics. 32-bit version works fine for us as well.

No. Just one piece. 512MB DDRAM. Yeah, 32-bit works fine. I tried to use the same xorg.conf for my 64-bit but no success.

We have the other bank of memory on the way and should have it tested by Tuesday. I will get back to you with the results.

How did you get FC2 to recognize the SATA drive? I have been trying to install it on an MSI with the VIA 8237 chipset and get stalled everytime. I keep thinking I have tried everything but nothing I have tried works.

I apologize for changing this thread, but if someone could point me in the right direction I surely would appreciate it!! I've been lost for 3 weeks now!!!

Thanks!

AMD 2600+ Barton core
