Hi,

Did you actually mean RC1, not TC1? In any case, the links you gave show FC14 betas only.

Hi,

I guess TC = Test Candidate?

If I am not mistaken, in openSUSE there are a number of milestone releases before one get to beta(s) then release candidates (RCs). What about Fedora?

yes, TC means TEST CANDIDATE. which means its a Pre- Test Candidate before the final Beta. Fedora is a 6month cycle release, its different from OpenSuse.

I tried to install it in Vmware Workstation (I don't use Vbox because it's performance sucks) and it failed due to a kickstart file error.

I have problems with suspending my Notebook (Sony Vaio VGN-SR21; 8400; ATI HD3400 rv620). I guess it's something radeon-drm + xf86-video-ati related because it used to work until kernel-2.6.35-rc3

there is no reason why it wouldnt support the i3 Processor, how did F13 didnt help? F12 uses the 2.6.32 kernel, so if F13 and F14 uses a Newer Kernel with updated drivers it will support that Processor. however you dont really say why F13 didnt help?

---------- Post added at 05:44 PM CDT ---------- Previous post was at 05:43 PM CDT ----------

as far as im aware of the i3 Processor has integrated Graphics, maybe it was a Graphics issue?

I agree that f13 or 14 using newer kernel, that's understood but still I cant understand why if I do install f13, when rebooting, something like bridge at 0x00-somewhat unread or undetected or somewhat again. that's not good then I try f14 dvd i386, this is the worst. after 'waiting hardware to initialize' or something like this, I just see a blank screen in my laptop.
I'm still looking why this thing happens again and again. even in vm-ware, f14 dvd i386 is no go.

If you folks could help with the validation testing it'd really help...feedback in the forums is good but validation results are better :)

desktop testing: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_14_Final_TC1_Desktop
installation testing: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_14_Final_TC1_Install

it's pretty easy - get the TC images, look at the test cases, run them, and fill out the results tables on the Wiki pages. Let me know if you have questions or problems. It'd be really great to have some help with the desktop validation tests. Thanks!

Just installed the RC1 Final x86_64 Live Desktop - very smooth. Going to try to do some of their tests and help out before it updates. The only change I see so far from the TC 1.1 is that the wild splash image goes to a more reasonable blue desktop background when you log in.

Very impressed so far.

Oops - wrong again. Only when running from the cd does the desktop change. After you're installed to disk the background still looks like something just smashed your windshield.

Installed live image ( http://serverbeach1.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/14.RC1/Live/Fedora-14-i686-Live-Desktop/) on 8GB USB Drive with 2400MB persistent space. booted. no problem. booting screen--"looks like something just smashed your windshield" as stated by sonoran. In system>administration new thing is LVM management. Two screens took time to close. first is calculator and second is Firefox.

That's because it's a bug. =) The smashed windshield is the F14 background. There was a bug in the initial RC1 live images which meant the background didn't display when booted live (sometimes). It's fixed in the re-spun live images we uploaded recently.
