View Full Version : If you can't manage archives after today's update...

If you can't open archives in nautilus after today's update, and you see this when you try to do it from a terminal window:
[gene@Mobile-PC packages]$ file-roller racket*
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "atk-bridge": libatk-bridge.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

(file-roller:4087): Bonobo-WARNING **: Bonobo must be initialized before use

GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.nautilus.preferences' is not installed

aborting...
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

just run:
[gene@Mobile-PC packages]$ sudo yum downgrade nautilus nautilus-extensions file-roller

I added a comment to the newly opened Bug 624180 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=624180) against file-roller, although the missing schema belongs to nautilus.

I see a new file-roller came in with tonight's updates.

New version 2.31.90-1 is working now for me with current nautilus and such.

Thanks, I grabbed it and let nautilus and nautilus-extensions update as well. But now, the new nautilus has reverted to not using my themes again. Did that happen to you?

No, but I'm running rawhide versions of things too. I had a problem with the gtk themes at one point and I think my temporary fix was to copy the gtk-2.0 folder to be gtk-3.0. It may have been happenstance, but it seemed to fix the theme I had at the time though I can't recall which it was. I'm not home currently, so I can't remember if I have nautilus 2.31.xx or masked 2.30.xx -- the .31. version was quite broken before I recall.

I have this in rawhide too. I almost always use tar for tarballs anyway, so it doesnt bother me too much. Is it the case that bugs first appear in rawhide and then, if not fixed, in F14?

Bodhi adds a layer of protection to F14 branched, so as rawhide diverges it gets bugs earlier. But I've noticed a lot more package updates to F14 as it gets closer to alpha. My guess is that right now, bugs are likely to pop up in both pretty frequently. But in a few weeks, rawhide will take over the lead.
