I have in my modprobe.conf:
alias char-major-10-250 sonypi
options sonypi minor=250
For some reason it doesn't load the sonypi module anymore. I can manually modprobe it though and it works fine. Did something change?

Probably udev bug, modules autoloading is being stubborn for alot of modules. Most likely, you should bugzilla that. Did you have the sonypi mailing list thread as well? Add to that bugzilla posting that it won't autoload.

I posted the sonypi thread to the mailing list, then I thought it was a bug with mknod, I didn't realize that udev made the devices automatically after the module was loaded, which it does if modprobe it. I filed the bug under udev though. Thanks.
