If you are not getting hardcopy out of your printer, here are some things to try.

First the obvious: is the printer plugged in and turned on, and are the cables connected?

Check the error logs in the /var/log/cups directory. If there is not enough information turn up the debug level. Edit the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file and change the LogLevel entry to info or something and try printing and checking the log again.

What next depends on the problem. There may be driver issues, for example.

I recommend setting up printers with the printer setup GUI, Main Menu > System Settings > Printing.
