Hi!

I'm using F13 with a few selected packages from F14 on my Sony NB VGN-SR21 (P8400+ATI HD3400 mobility, 4GB,320GB).

I'm using kernel-2.6.35 since rc1 and like to sum up my experience.

-rc1 was ok but had a few problems with my ATI
-rc3 runs fine, graphic card temp dropped heavily by using power_profile low. But I had problems with MySQL sometimes hanging for a few minutes and running into timeouts. Otherwise very stable and the best -rc imo!
-rc4 had the same problems with MySQL and was not really stable
-rc5 was completely broken for me
-rc6 (selfcompiled and kernel-devel-2.6.35-0.57.rc6.git1) works (MySQL working again) but I loose iNodes on my ext4 partition. This makes me pretty nervous ;) I also have big problems with the suspend mode which half of the time doesn't work and reboots my notebook.

What about the kernel-devel-2.6.35-0.57.rc6.git5 which I saw in the past but vanished now? And what about the final kernel?

Any other user stories and tips are highly welcome ;)

:) struberg, thank you for your post. :)

I have my information about the 2.6.35 kernel at this post. :)

============================================
Overall, I have no problems to report with the 2.6.35-1.fc14.i686.PAE kernel or 2.6.35 kernels and I look forward to doing an update to the kernel-2.6.35.1-4.rc1.fc14.i686.PAE kernel later this week. :)

Hope this helps. ;)

kernel-2.6.35-2.fc14 is slightly better. no iNode problems anymore, but suspend is still broken and sometimes leads to a cold boot when trying to resume.
I'll try kernel-2.6.35.1-5.rc1.fc14.x86_64 soon

kernel-2.6.35.1-5.rc1.fc14.x86_64 still has a suspend problem.
Will compile latest xf86-video-ati from git now.

2.6.35 went final a week or 2 ago, have you tried the latest?

hi dexta!
I almost daily pulled from Linus git repo and compiled the kernels myself. -rc3 was the last where suspend did work. I'm now using kernel-2.6.35.1-5.rc1.fc14.x86_64 from Fedoras build system which I got pointed to by leigh.

Not sure if there is any fedora git repo which contains all the rc changes in a non-squashed manner. If so I could bisect the problem.

2.6.35.1-5.rc1 also has problem with suspend mode and did leave a 0.7% crashed iNodes after a suspend.

are you downloading Vanilla Kernels?

have you updated to the latest 2.6.35 kernel?

dexta, as explained above, I currently use the kernels from the fedora build system + used to pull the rcs from Linus git repo.
-rc3 is still the best one...

yes i see that. is your issue resolved with kernels from Fedora koji?

struberg

yes, with both. All the 2.6.35 kernels from koji suffer from it also (as did vanilla -rc4, -rc5pre, -rc5 and -rc6)
