systend can't go past dot 5 (with upstart conflicts. Also needs lsb-redhat fixed.
python-2.7 is not going to be smooth
openoffice.org-3.3.1-x has problem with calc file being opened.
The gnome desktop and user programs are and have beed broken for a long time.
perl compat is broken on some packages.

Yes and the conflict was either but not both
systend-sysvinit or upstart-sysvinit
but there are other conflicts
upstart wants something called systemd-userspace and is is nowhere.
lsb-redhat conflicts (or it maybe redhat-lsb)

once thats done, try this in terminal and then try to update

I need upstart in case systemd does not work.
I tried about every combo I could of the packages but the newest would not work.

only other thing i can suggest or 2, download a new boot.iso image ( or whatever they call it now ) an reinstall or file a Bug on Python?

Hang tight, the systemd upstart conflict only started Friday when it was announced that systemd would be the default. I'm guessing that recent changes made to systemd are the cause for the conflict. There was an older version of systemd-init on rawhide for those who wanted to test early, and the conflict might be due to the opposing versions. Neither new version will come in without the other, and the old upstart will remain until they work out the conflict. As far as the python rebuild, I read that it's still in progress, so waiting another couple of days might be necessary. If you want to read what it's all about there's a long discussion in the devel mailing list.

I'm on a public library connection and I just saw the rawhide report. yikes!
Way to much to download rpm's onto a usb a few at a time. Especially using Windows with realplayer trying to download it first, backing out, and closing. I guess world wide mime types are beyond the third party hackers. :)

So I'll wait for Alpha + some cleanup and borrow the wireless modem again in a couple of weeks.
Or upgrade to f15 in Sept. lol
