Hi,

I have tried to install F13 on an 8 GB USB memory stick (flash drive, thumb drive) but have had limited success.

I used the Live USB Creator method as suggested in the Fedora web site and although I ended up with a bootable USB memory stick, I was unable to save any changes even though I allowed a 2GB persistent overlay.

I then tried to do it using Unetbootin and again got a bootable memory stick but again was unable to save any changes.

Could someone explain what I might be doing wrong or is it just not possible to make a bootable memory stick with F12 that will save any changes?

Is the stick formatted in the fat32 file system?

It has to be FAT 32. Rather than use LiveUSB-Creator, burn a DVD of the iso, boot from it, and choose the "Install to hard drive" option. Make sure to choose the USB key as your drive and go ahead for all 8 Gbs.
Unplug (or unmount) the hard drive first if you have any doubts about which is which.

Thanks to you both.

Yes, Zanpactou it is formatted FAT32

Hi kurtdriver, I have done what you said and it has worked without any problems. As I am still fairly new to Linux, I did a cowardly thing and disconnected the hard drives so that the installer had no other choice than the memory stick. Someone had already partitioned the HD into C: D: and E: so I wasn't sure what Fedora would make of that and I didn't want to risk screwing up Windows as it is used by someone else.

Thanks again

Ooooh, no. That's not cowardly at all ... That's smart!
