Like it says in the title.
If I turn off the quiet mode in the boot options, it does throw up some errors (e.g. SQASHFS), and then stops after "starting abrt daemon".
On an AMD Athelon. It worked fine of F9, but started playing up, so I'm looking at upgrading

Try downloading the Fedora disc image again and verify the checksum of the image, next burn the disc off at a very slow speed, 4X would be good.
Likely you got a bad burn, the disc is scratched, some dirt was on the disc or your disc writer under performs.
I would personally create install media again a fresh, to try to solve your problem first of all.
Thanks,

Call me stupid if you will, but please could you remind me how to verify the checksum?

But it did boot fine on my machine. Maybe mine is better at coping with errors, but it does show the disc works.

No. You're not. I couldn't remember exactly off hand myself.
The disc might have a scratch or a dirt smear on it, possibly.

Thanks CSchwangler, saved me looking for it.
